In Chapter 38 of Job, after 35 chapters of debating God’s will, intentions, and actions, the Lord came down upon the land and settled the matters raised before Him.
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. (Job 38:1-3)
Perhaps this photo of a tornado, posted at CNN.com’s website, portrays some of the physical awe that instills fear among men who are brought into the presence of the Lord. Imagine the power of such a storm coming down from the clouds near you, from which the Lord spoke directly to you. Truly, this is the Lord coming on the clouds in power (Matthew 26:64, Revelation 1:7):
He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. (Psalm 18:11)
